A contagious smile, an infectious laugh, boundless energy—all good ways to describe MeeSaa, a lively, exuberant four-year-old girl.
One Sabbath afternoon, our friend Navee took us to meet a family whose little girl was having some strange symptoms. We fell in love with MeeSaa the moment we met her. Her mother told us she was having symptoms similar to a woman’s monthly cycle. We weren’t sure what was going on, so we decided to send MeeSaa to Mercy Medical Center, a nice Christian hospital in Phnom Penh. They discovered a cyst on her ovary. The following week we took her back to the hospital for surgery.
As you can see from the pictures, the staff at Mercy Medical Center fell in love with MeeSaa as quickly as we had. They even used a photo of MeeSaa as their profile picture on Facebook. Thankfully the surgery was a success, and MeeSaa is back to being a normal, healthy four-year-old. Because of this encounter with MeeSaa and her family, her grandmother now comes to church faithfully and is a precious addition to our little group. We also get to see MeeSaa and her mother when they come to visit Grandma.
We’ve been blessed to be able to help many people like MeeSaa get needed surgery, glasses, tooth fillings, and other care. Sometimes we’re able to help with remedies we have at our house, like apple cider vinegar for shingles or baking soda paste for cradle cap. It is so much fun to see people come back and say how the remedy we gave them helped. Some days we feel overwhelmed with the needs here, but most days we feel very blessed that we get to help people here.
Our favorite part of our work here is sharing with these precious people how much God loves them. We share with them because God first shared with us. We also enjoy praying with people and assuring them that God loves them and wants to take care of them even more than we do.
We’re so thankful for the relationships with which God is blessing us. We’ve had a lot of positive feedback from the community, and we are praying that God will use His health message to help reach the hearts of the people here.
