“And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold” (Matt. 24:12).
“Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually” (Gen. 6:5).
“But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be” (Matt. 24:37).
While in the USA recently, I noticed a shift in attitudes and personally witnessed more than once the edge of violence in people’s interactions. Here is one situation:
I was at a phone shop, wearing a mask and standing outdoors in a six-foot-spaced line. A man who appeared to be in his 70s got behind me in line. The woman attendant who had signed us all in politely told him that he needed a mask to enter the store. He loudly swore at her, which prompted the man (mid 60s) in front of me to get involved. Within seconds it had escalated to extremely foul language being flung back and forth, and the instigator raising his fists. I was shocked and came very close to dialing 911. Then other men began stepping in, and the instigator left, cursing profusely.
The two verbal combatants were not hoodlums but men who drove expensive vehicles and appeared to lack for nothing but self control. What caused the rapid escalation? I believe it is the love of many growing cold.
Brothers and sisters, now is the time to be ready. Stay faithful, and do not let go of your first love! We are nearing the end. Keep holding onto Jesus. “But he who endures to the end shall be saved” (Matt. 24:13).
Thank you for all you do to reach the unreached!
