I cried as our passenger bus pulled out of the bus station. Through the back window we could see our friends waving with tears in their eyes. They stood there for what seemed like an eternity.
Since this painful experience, I have been pondering the concept of heaven. Why will there be a heaven? What is the point and how will it be better than here? I realized that in heaven we don’t have to say goodbye, so there will be no tears to wipe away. We can see family and friends whenever we want to. We won’t be separated by continents, time zones or bad Internet connections. We will be able to connect face to face. We will see loved ones who have been sleeping, and we will be able to have uninterrupted conversations. We will be able to talk about God and His goodness. There will be no more barriers. We will not have the heartache of missing someone, because they will be right there.
I thought of all the people I love and want to see every day. I thought about our donors, God’s warriors who enable other people to do His work. I thought of family members and friends, people we meet daily. I couldn’t help but imagine how God must long to have every one of His children—each and every person on this earth—with Him in heaven. He longs to talk with us and walk with us, to share our laughter and our life stories. He wants to tell us about His love for us. God loves us more than we can ever reciprocate. Who would you take to heaven with you? Tell them about Jesus today!
