“Every year millions upon millions of human souls are passing into eternity unwarned and unsaved. From hour to hour in our varied life, opportunities to reach and save souls are opened to us. These opportunities are continually coming and going. God desires us to make the most of them” (Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 373).

When I read these words from Ellen White, many sad situations come to my mind—neighbors moving in and then moving out before I find time to meet them, countries allowing missionary entry visas and then forbidding visa renewals, people groups open to the gospel then decimated by genocide or isolated by newly drawn geopolitical lines. Our opportunities do not last forever.

Some young people in the prime of life hear God’s call but then wait for more wisdom or a clearer path before pursuing mission service. Before they know it, they are married and have children, a mortgage, school bills, a bad back and aging parents to care for. Our opportunities do not last forever.

However, good news is encapsulated in the same thought: “Opportunities are continually coming . . .” You may have missed yesterday’s opportunity, but another one is on the way.

Adventist Frontier Missions has more than 30 calls for student and short-term missionaries each year. Also, dozens of people groups have been researched and are waiting for career missionaries to go and share Jesus with them. AFM is also deploying seniors to projects that would benefit from their wisdom and discipleship. Opportunities are multiplying, and excuses are dwindling.

Don’t miss your opportunity. “God desires us to make the most of them.” They will not last forever!
