Paradigm Shift: Church-Planting Movements

Paradigm shifts! If you get used to doing things a certain way, and you have done it enough times, a paradigm shift can feel like a mental and emotional revolution. “But with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).

If we were to live the experience of the disciples who walked and talked with Jesus, the thought that there would not be a literal earthly kingdom just wouldn’t seem possible. But Christ had a kingdom to offer them that was greater than they were seeking and which would continue to grow until His second coming.

As we experience the joy of AFM training, the realization that God is raising church-planting movements is inspiring. He is working out His plan in ways that lead to disciples multiplying disciples . . . in growing churches that plant other churches . . . in movements that can only be attributed to the power of the Holy Spirit. Thinking of that kindles new hope and vision for the nearness of Christ’s return. Even more, the reality that church growth can surpass population growth — what an amazing thought.

Reaching the Ama is not merely about planting a church among a group of people that need the gospel; it is about connecting the Ama with what God is already doing, then watching a church-planting movement ignite among them, equipping them to be catalysts in reaching others. These are the same church-planting movements that God intends to take place globally. He yearns for each people group that has not experienced His liberating power of love, growth and active service to taste and see that what Christ promised can and will be a reality.

Is it easy to experience a paradigm shift? Not necessarily. But God loves to bring them about.
