Persecuted but not Abandoned

Teresa and her husband Satyam have been ministering to the people in their village below Darjeeling for the past several years. It hasn’t been easy for them. Though they are passionate about telling others about Christ, many of their neighbors don’t appreciate the work they’re doing.

On a recent Sabbath, we visited their village to encourage the believers and participate in a baptism program for several people Teresa and Satyam have been studying the Bible with. Teresa had a great big smile on her face the entire day. She radiated pure joy. She shared with us some of the challenges they have had to face from their neighbors. Some people in her village got very angry when they learned that Teresa and Satyam were teaching people about Jesus from the Bible. They began to gossip about Teresa, and they even became violent. We had noticed that most of the windows in Teresa’s home were boarded up. She explained that some men had come and thrown rocks at their house to try and scare them and make them stop preaching and teaching about Jesus. Teresa told us she was so happy we had come to support and encourage them because they often feel lonely as the only Seventh-day Adventists in their area. Please continue to pray that God will strengthen Teresa and Satyam as they labor for Him.
