Person of Peace

“Let’s go to one more meeting,” I said to Josh. The apathy we faced was wearing on us, but we decided to press on with God’s strength. God blessed that final meeting, and we got our first client!

In 2000, after my friend Josh and I graduated from Collegeview Academy in Lincoln, Nebraska, we started a painting business. We named it, “New Creation Painting” after one of my favorite Bible verses. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Cor. 5:17 NKJV).

We had painting gear, business cards, and about four years of experience, but no customers. There were some moments of doubt. Had we done the right thing? Should we have stayed with our previous employer? But God sent us wisdom from our elders: “Go talk with people and introduce them to your company.” So we set up meetings with apartment managers all over the city. We had no success until that final apartment manager gave us a chance. She was our person of peace. Not only did she hire us to paint an apartment for her, she also wrote us a nice recommendation letter, which lead us to the next job and many others after that.

A person of peace is what we need God to bring us in Palawan—someone who will study the Bible with us and introduce us to their family and friends who will also study the Bible. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, this will culminate in a church-planting movement!

God has already raised up a team of people of peace who, through their prayers and support, are preparing the way for the Palawano to know the Prince of Peace. I know He will do it again when we launch to Palawan so that the Palawano can know His saving love and grace. Please join us in prayer that God will bring us this person of peace when we arrive in Palawan. Thank you so much for your prayers and support.
