Pressed Flower Bookmarks

It was a beautiful day, and the children of the Natitingou church were ready to make their flower bookmarks for their Adventurers class.

The week before, each child had collected a few flowers from the area and put them in their class notebook, where they got squished and dried over the week. Afterward, Auntie Suzy put strips of packing tape, sticky side out, on the metal door of the church. Each child chose one strip of tape and stuck their now-dried flowers on it. Auntie Suzy wrote their names on the sticky side and then stuck another strip of packing tape over the other strip of tape on the door. Then each child took their strip of now enclosed flowers off the door and looked excitedly at their beautiful bookmarks.

You can make some fancy flower bookmarks, too. With permission, collect some flowers (smaller ones are best) and press them between two sheets of paper. Put something heavy on them, like a big book and let them dry for a few days. When they are flat and dry, have an adult or an older sibling cut a strip of clear packing tape and fold the ends over so they stick to the table, with the rest of the sticky side up. Then apply your dry flowers and arrange them so they look nice. Add some glitter if you want. Then have the older person help you put another strip of packing tape on top, sticky sides together. Cut the two ends so they are not sticky, and now you have a lovely bookmark to put in your Bible and remember the beautiful flowers God made.
