Oh no, not now, I thought as I attempted to print out the minutes of the last church business meeting. Each time the printer would start up to print, it would immediately shut down and give me a message about the fuser, telling me I should turn off the printer and restart it. Steve would be traveling to Kotale this particular morning for a church board meeting, and I had promised the church secretary I would send the minutes with him. But more than that, the next day I needed to print off materials for our next session of the Steps to Christ study session we were having with a small group of Gogodala. Without those materials, we wouldn’t be able to meet.
Living in a remote location, we either have to fix things ourselves or wait until the next semi-annual trip to Port Moresby. I prayed right then that God would help me with this problem, but the printer kept malfunctioning. Steve had to go to the church board meeting without the minutes. I was greatly concerned about getting the materials printed for the next session with our group when we would look at the ninth chapter of Steps to Christ. I prayed to God and trusted that if He wanted us to go through the next chapter, He would get the printer working for me.
The next morning, as I was finishing some laundry, I took advantage of the generator running to use the printer. Steve had already taken the printer apart to see if there was anything he could fix, but the only thing he was able to do was clean a little dust out. Turning on my computer and the printer, I prayed again that God would perform a miracle for the sake of our study group. Holding my breath I clicked the print button and waited. It didn’t give me a warning message, and out came the printed pages! There was a lot of stray toner on the pages, so I decided to run the cleaning routine then see what would happen. The next pages came out perfect. Praise the Lord! As page after perfect page came out, I was in awe, and my faith was strengthened. Our group would hear the message the next day.
Steve poked his head into the office to see how things were going and asked if the printer was working. I held up a printed page, and he, too, responded with, “Praise the Lord!”
“The great controversy is being fought out in this printer!” I said.
I believe God wants the Gogodala to receive the message found in Steps to Christ. The apostle John wrote, “This is the confidence that we have in [God], that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” (1 John 5:14) It certainly is according to His will that we all should learn to have a relationship with Him!
