In general, life here is rolling along fairly smoothly.
But some days, I don’t feel the motivation to keep being a missionary. I’m tired of giving, giving, giving, to my students and my neighbors. I feel loveless and joyless and energy-less. I feel like I’m not good enough to be here doing God’s work.
I think that’s a normal part of life. Stuff drains us. The devil attacks us. We get tired.
But God is teaching me that He’s there even when the motivation isn’t. He knows my life from start to finish. He’s gone through my same struggles before, and He has overcome. He now walks beside me to guide me through every challenging path. I don’t always feel like a good missionary, but that doesn’t matter because HIS goodness is good enough for me.
If you’re struggling to stay motivated to live for Christ, I just want to remind you that you’re not alone. I’ve been through it. Dare I say all Christians have been through it. And most importantly, JESUS has been through everything and is right there helping you overcome. He’s there even if it feels like He isn’t. Keep going, keep running, looking to Jesus – the author and finisher of your faith, who for YOU endured the cross and triumphed in the race. Things will get better. And when the race is over and we are in Heaven, you’ll look back and know that it was worth it.
