Seek Ye First the Kingdom

“The Lord was with him, and that which he did, the Lord made it to prosper” (Gen. 39:23). This was written of Joseph in Egypt, but lately we have been convinced that the Lord is still doing what He did for Joseph so long ago. While we can’t claim to be as faithful as Joseph was, the Lord has been blessing us tremendously. I could share much, but I must limit this to a couple examples.

In September, after much prayer, I decided to resign from my job, resting in the promise, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matt. 6:33). I did this in order to have more time to spend preparing for service in Benin. Within a few days of submitting my resignation, we learned that leaders of the Adventist Union in Norway wanted to give a large donation to our project. We were overwhelmed, and still are, by this miracle. What a confirmation of our call and of our decision to focus on our preparation duties! We had decided to concentrate our support-team-building efforts on Norway, but we had no idea that such a large amount of support would come in so quickly. The Union pledge is enough to cover all that remains of our launching budget as well as more than one whole year of monthly expenses!

By the time you read this, I will have been to Benin for a two-week visit to gather pictures, information and first-hand experiences. We are amazed at how the details of this trip were worked out in such a short time. Day by day, we are seeing how God is prospering us, and we want to share with you our gratitude for what He is doing.
