Seeking the Support of the Body of Christ

“But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.”

When the months of summer vacation come to a close, I will be boarding an airplane bound for Cambodia. I will be heading there as a teacher of English, ready to empower Cambodian children with improved speaking and writing abilities. Furthermore, as the overwhelming majority of the population are unbelievers, this also poses an amazing opportunity for evangelism. I will be befriending and witnessing to individuals who have never even heard the name of Christ. What an opportunity!

I will be in Cambodia for the entire subsequent year, from the end of August to July. Not only does this require me to take a year off of school, but it also means spending many months separated from my dearest friends and family. As painful as the coming months will be, I consider the pain to be nothing compared to the eternal value these months will hold for the people of Cambodia as well as for me. For “whatever was an asset to me, I count as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count all things as loss compared to the surpassing excellence of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him.”

In order for this plan to become a reality, I need your help. The immeasurable meaning and significance of this journey cannot be sustained by myself alone—for I, but a single member of the Body of Christ, can do nothing without the support of the whole body. The financial cost of this mission, while a mere fraction of its spiritual worth, is a substantial sum of five thousand dollars. If I ever wish to meet this cost, I need your support. While any amount is helpful and unspeakably appreciated, I ask you to consider a gift in the range of $35-$150. If you can afford to give even more than this, I would ask you to prayerfully consider doing so. That last part is, in fact, the most important piece of the puzzle: I ask you to pray for me. Not just in this fundraising stage, but also over the course of the next year as a broken vessel such as I steps forward to answer the Great Commission.

I thank you in advance for your amazing support and encouragement as God prepares me for what will be, undeniably, a spectacularly challenging year of evangelism and ministry. If you are willing, you can press the “Give to this Project” button next to my profile and donate directly to me.
