Showers of Blessings

We have truly experienced the scripture, “my cup runneth over,” (Ps. 23:5) this past March. It seemed like God was giving us a month of blessings for us to remember in the tough times ahead. We are writing them down so we can do as 1 Samuel 12:24 says: “Only fear the Lord, and serve Him in truth with all your heart: for consider what great things He hath done for you.”

Here is a brief overview of our showers of blessings: Three of our parents have battled cancer in the past year, and all are currently cancer-free. We have a beloved uncle and aunt who asked us to sell their car and then proceeded to selflessly donate the money to our project. Our house got an offer (despite a local skunk perfuming it), and we are currently in escrow. In our downsizing of possessions, we have continually been amazed at how quickly God sells the things we advertise, and the buyers don’t try to negotiate the price. And we get a chance to witness to each buyer as we tell them about God’s call for us to serve in Asia. In late March, we sold our fifth wheel and moved into the workshop to compile all our remaining belongings. It has been quite an adjustment. But, through it all, God is giving us an abiding peace, a sense of humor and a tremendous amount of adaptability for each day’s challenges. He is also using these challenges to shape and refine us so we can be better ready to serve Him in Asia as AFM field directors.

What an amazing month overflowing with God’s blessings! All we can do is praise His name. —Diane Hooker
