If the Shepherd gives His consent, is it stealing? I have never stolen a sheep before, but there’s always a first time!

In the predominantly Hindu and Buddhist country where we live, all Christians go to church on Saturday because it is the only day off from work and school. For us, it is a blessing to see non-Adventists enjoying the rest of God’s true Sabbath.

We live in a vast city, and yet we haven’t found a Seventh-day Adventist church within an hour’s drive. We long for Christian fellowship and have been to three different Protestant churches in the area. The worship services are different from what we are used to, especially the prayer time when everyone prays very loudly together. It is a bedlam of noise to our ears. The people are loving and invite us to all their meetings. We are happy to join in, ask questions and share Biblical truth.

Recently, I was invited to speak at one of the local churches. I wish I didn’t have to use a translator as I am never quite sure the translation is correct. However, I noticed that my translator correctly used the term “Sabbath School” instead of “Sunday School.” Also, when the undershepherd did an overview at the end, he seemed to side with my perspective about God, His love and what an idol is. I praise God for this devout man who isn’t afraid of change if it is Biblical!

Recently after church we had the undershepherd and his wife over for haystacks. This was an unfamiliar meal to them, but they seemed to enjoy the food and fellowship. They are a sweet couple and seem to be true seekers of God’s precious truths in His Word.

Maybe it is best to steal the undershepherd and let the sheep follow him into the fold of Christ? Either way, we have been admonished by Jesus in John 21:15-17 to “feed My lambs,” and “feed My sheep.” Since sheep usually go where they are fed, we believe it is not stealing, as the Great Shepherd has given His consent.

After reading this, I hope you feel a strong urge to enter any sheep pens God opens to you and feed the sheep by leading them to the great Shepherd! Or better yet, work with an undershepherd to Biblically lead his flock to Jesus. Don’t let the bedlam of noise scare you off. Jesus’ true sheep will know His voice.
