Steered by God

I drove our motorcycle down a dusty road, thanking the Lord for His mercy. Somewhere up ahead of me, Maggi was waiting with our broken car. She had been trying to turn around on the narrow road, and then lost all steering. Thankfully she was not hurt, but I was upset and frustrated at the mechanics who had recently done a poor job installing new parts on the car.

When I finally saw our car, parked sideways in the road, I was reminded again how glad I was that it was not mangled somewhere beside the highway. If the steering part had broken while we were driving faster, we might have all been seriously injured or killed.

Apparently this problem had been waiting to happen for some time, since only a small bit of metal on the shaft of the ball joint was still intact, and there was rust on the places that had been broken earlier.

The only things I could find to hold the steering together were some zip ties I had in the car toolbox. I used them all, attached the steering arm to the ball joint on the tie-rod, and had Maggi slowly back the car up until she could find a good, flat place to turn around. She ended up getting a lot of practice backing up! Now the car has been repaired again, hopefully better than last time, and we thank the Lord for new evidence of His protection.
