Student Missionary

During my first year as a student missionary in Thailand, we would go to the mountains and visit the Mien people the Wilson family was working with. We held weeks of prayer and Bible camps and had Sabbath worships. A large gathering of youth, with older people as well, would come to these meetings. Several of the grandmothers in the village were interested in learning about the gospel. During one of our trips to the mountains, one of the grandmothers decided to be baptized. Along with her, a girl from another village who had come with us decided she could no longer wait to be baptized. She called her parents to let them know. They told her that, if she went through with it, they would not allow her into their house again. Nonetheless, this girl went through with her decision. I was so amazed at her courage and desire to belong to God’s family.

It reminded me of what Jesus said in Matthew 10:37 and 16:25 when He was talking to His disciples: “He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me . . . And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.” Please pray with us that many Northern Khmer people will desire to give their hearts and lives to Christ.
