The Dream

“You should ask if you can share for the worship at your previous workplace.” My best friend was trying to spur me to action before we ended our stay in the area and flew back to our homes. She knew I was intimidated, scared, paralyzed even, at the thought of fundraising.

By God’s grace, they accepted my short-notice request. But when the day came to share for the worship, feelings of inadequacy flooded me. Who was I to make an appeal about winning souls in front of a ministry of the worldwide church?

After I finished, a woman came up to me and smiled. “One year ago, I had a dream that a missionary going to the 10/40 window had come to speak. I asked the missionary why they had not gone yet, and the missionary told me ‘I need funds before I can go.’ I will speak to my husband tonight, and we will do what we can to help you. God is leading you on your road.”

Now, whenever I feel uncertain, I remember the lessons I learned from that experience:

God called me. Prior to that moment, I never had the courage to call myself a missionary, because I knew the flaws of my character and the weakness of my faith. But now I boldly call myself a missionary, because it’s what God called me.

God is guiding me on my path. If God is leading, then He knows my needs, and He is more than able to get me where He needs me, even using prophetic dreams.

My calling is not just about me. I was so afraid because I was focusing on myself. The dream made me realize that God is not calling only me to be a missionary, but He is calling others of His followers to help the Sinim people. If my best friend had never pushed me to set up a worship presentation, the woman would not had been able to answer God’s calling to be a missionary supporter for the Sinim people.

Though I am impatient to finish my fundraising and launch to my mission field, I praise God for changing my fear into gratitude that I can help others answer His mission call in their lives.
