The Power of Prayer

If patience and perseverance are not some of your virtues, walking with God may seem highly frustrating, especially when it comes to divine timing in answering prayer.

Agnès and her husband, Solo, are faithful Bible students and members of our worship group. Since they married about four years ago, they have been trying to have a child. But as time passed, they felt as though their hope for this special blessing was dulling. Finally, Agnès conceived.

Throughout their struggle, we never gave up on our commitment to pray for them. Hence, we were puzzled over their continuing fertility problem. The couple, extremely introverted, hardly discussed this matter openly. Topics revolving around the sterility of a couple are fraught with feelings of shame. A man or a woman who is incapable of producing offspring may feel highly embarrassed psychologically, as this could be dishonorable for their extended family. Worse yet, persecution from the man’s family could potentially come against the woman; they might accuse her of being a witch. Therefore, the pregnancy of sister Agnès is indeed a great blessing, seeing the hand of God at work to grant her the privilege of becoming a future mother after several months of supplications on her behalf.

Moreover, sister Agnès was having severe and varied spiritual attacks some time back, resulting from strange forged alliances with demonic entities. The demonic oppression against her involved recurrent visitations of her spiritual husband, resulting in sexual harassment. This was among several shocking experiences. At one point, the Malinke Project team fasted and prayed for three days. During the deliverance service, she made these and other scary confessions, prompting the Malinke team to launch a blazing spiritual battle. After three months, she testified that she no longer suffered from bad dreams or spiritual harassment.

However, in recent days, she complained of having another form of nightmare: a strange man threatening to kill and remove her child from her womb. The devil has not given up on her yet, but he’s already defeated. We are praying for her regarding those nocturnal experiences, and we humbly ask you to please keep Agnès in your prayers. Luke 18:1 says, “Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart.” May His holy name be praised!
