The Road to Victory

I took the faded, wrinkled picture and searched every contour with my eyes over and over. Contemplating the picture, I realized this winding road through the woods had significance to me. The road looked very steep and dangerous, and it reminded me of what my life had been like.

As the saying goes, a road traveled twice is a road wasted. So it was with my path to recovery. Many times I found myself starting on a brand new road, all nicely paved and with clear road markings, saying to myself, “This time I’m going to make a change.” But I always failed. Through rock songs like “Road to Nowhere,” the father of lies tried to convince me that life had no real meaning.

It is both scary and exhilarating to come to a stage in your life where you finally submit yourself to God and realize that you are no longer in control. When I let God take the steering wheel of my life, He piloted me down a narrow, winding road that led to victory.

Never doubt once you allow God to lead you on your road to recovery. He knows the road you are on. He led me on my right road, and he can lead you on yours.
