The Same Love

Relationships are the greatest treasure, both this side of heaven and when we finally and joyfully stand in God’s presence face to face.

A recently added partner blessed me tremendously by sharing that they were giving in honor of John Lello, the AFM missionary who died in a tree-felling accident on November 26, 2012, while serving the Ama tribe of Papua New Guinea. That donor kindly gave me the contact information for John Lello’s mother, Judy.

When I called Judy, our conversation blossomed into sharing our testimonies and how God led in each of our lives. Judy shared how she and her husband Graham had raised John and his sister on mission stories, helping them develop a deep love for mission and saving souls.

One memory in particular that she shared stood out to me greatly. When the Lello family was preparing to launch, there was a time when John, his wife and their two daughters were staying with his parents. Judy remembered John going word-by-word over the powerful truth of John 3:16: “God . . . so . . . loved . . .” Hearing that, particularly his word-by-word emphasis, I realized it was the same love of God that moved him to go to the Ama that is moving me.

It was while listening to a message on the infinite love of God in 2008 that He first put Papua New Guinea on my heart. I now consider it a privilege to go to the Ama tribe, where John Lello and his family previously served. We are part of the same family in Christ, fulfilling the same great commission, moved by the same love of Christ that constrains us to live for Him who lived, died and rose again for us (2 Corinthians 5:14).

Moved by that same love, would you prayerfully consider partnering with me through your prayers and recurring donations? We can bring God’s love to the Ama and help them break free from the fear of spirits. I would treasure partnering with you.
