The Sermon

Sabbath was coming, and it was my turn to preach. What topic should I preach about? I wanted to talk about Jesus being the way, truth and life. But suddenly an impression came into my mind: Preach about Jesus’ blood. I read some stories on the Internet and I read from The Great Controversy. Finally, I was prepared to preach on Sabbath.

However, Friday night, I had a troubling dream in which a black snake and a number of people were trying to kill me. In the dream, a voice was saying, “Don’t preach tomorrow.”

Sabbath morning, I prayed and read some more verses, then I went to church. Before the divine service, I went into another room to pray. Although I had preached several times before, this time I was really scared and nervous! When I came back into the church room, the song they were singing was about Jesus’ blood. It made me more nervous and scared inside. I was getting ready to tell Brother Jonathan that I couldn’t preach. Then Jonathan prayed, and God gave me strength to preach. When I started preaching I was still nervous. I forgot many important points, but God helped me complete the sermon.

That day, I realized that preaching isn’t an easy thing to do. We always need God and the Holy Spirit to help us, because an individual alone can’t do it.
