The Watch’s Story

Hi. I am Suzy’s watch. I have been sitting on her wrist for many years. We go everywhere together. My band collects all kinds of yucky stuff like bread dough, dirt, mud, gasoline, diesel fuel, grease, and lots of other things, so Suzy scrubs me down every now and then to get it all out. Then back onto her wrist I go.
My time-changing buttons don’t work anymore. Suzy can’t change my alarm setting, so I wake her up every morning at 5 a.m., whether she needs me to or not. She dutifully turns me off and goes back to sleep.

I have been knocked off of Suzy’s wrist many times, but each time God protects me and helps Suzy realize I am missing. I don’t remember how many times I have fallen, but recently it has been more frequently. A couple of weeks ago, I fell off beside the compost pile. God helped Suzy find me before I was covered with grass or driven over by the truck. Another time, I was bumped off when Suzy was hauling a crying kid out of church. The child’s mother found me outside and brought me back to her.

Just this evening, I started to fall off in the shower. The thread that keeps my band attached to the clasp had worn through and broken. Thankfully, Suzy realized I was loosening and grabbed me before I went down the drain pipe and into the outhouse hole where I would have been lost forever. I thank the God of heaven who sees all and even cares for a little beaten-up watch like me.
