They That Wait…

“What kind of house are we going to live in, Mommy?” Ashley turned to Mama with a hopeful expression on her face. “Will it be a house or an apartment?” “I think it will be a house. I hope we can have a house so that you and your brother and sister will have a place to play outside. I don’t want to live in an apartment like we did in our last country.” Mama answered. “I hope so too.” Ashley said as she bounced out the door to play in the yard at the AFM training center. Mama went to the window and looked outside, watching Ashley and the other children ride bikes around and around the perimeter of the grass. “What will our life be like in North Africa?” She thought to herself. “I should start making a list of seasonings that I want to take with us so we can have some of our comfort food from home so people will feel happy at the end of a long day.” “Do I need to encourage my children to start learning French now or should I wait until we get there and let them learn it by playing with other children? I wonder if I need to take sheets? In the place where we were before, the sheets were not good.” Mama started making a mental checklist of the things she needed to make decisions on in the next few months. What would they need to take? What should she prepare her children to expect? Should they take board games? Would they even have time for board games? Mama turned from the window with the feeling of excitement rising. She felt a bit impatient. When would they be able to go themselves and actually have concrete answers to all of these unspoken questions? As she headed to the kitchen to boil water for spaghetti, she was reminded of the Bible verse, “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength…”. Wait. God was telling her to wait. She could do that. Her strength would be renewed and she would be ready to go. Soon. All in God’s time. Wait.
