During the past weeks, we have been working full-time in our fundraising ministry. Since we are still in quarantine, most of our meetings are via Zoom or phone calls. Our daughter Arleen had participated in some of the sessions, usually by saying hi and then going away to play by herself while we finished the presentation.
But one day after I finished a meeting, she brought me three quarters and two nickels. “What is this?” I asked her. “Do you want me to pretend that I will buy one of your ice creams?”
“Mommy,” she replied, “this is my money. Take it so we can go to the Himadri people.”

Tears came to my eyes. After listening to us asking people to join our project as donors, my four-year-old daughter had decided to become a donor as well with her three quarters and two nickels.

As I reflect on her gift, I remember two stories from the Bible. First, the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000 in Matthew 14:13-21 in which Jesus multiplied five loaves and two fishes. Second, the widow’s offering of two small coins in Mark 12:41-44. Calling His disciples to Him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”

Dear friend, if God fed a multitude with five loaves and two fishes and built a treasure out of two tiny coins, I can’t wait to see what He will do with three quarters and two nickels!
