Do you ever feel like 24 hours in a day is not enough? Have you looked at your to-do list in the evening, and nothing has been done? Where did the day go? Time seems to go by faster and faster, though the number of hours in a day never changes.
As Arnold and I have started AFM training, time has become such a precious commodity. The daily essentials can quickly fill our days, yet we long to make each moment productive for the Lord. Counsel says, “We give our time and thoughts to trivial and commonplace things of the world, and neglect the great interests that pertain to eternal life” (Review & Herald, June 12, 1888). Where do we find balance and still guard from getting lost in the busyness of the day?
My answer is found in the life of Jesus. It is apparent that every “act in His life had a purpose” (Signs of the Times, June 23, 1898). His whole existence was in harmony with His Father’s will. Every single moment of time was an opportunity Jesus used to point others to the Lord. He was a “doer of the Word and not a hearer only,” (James 1:22). Wow! But how?
“We should watch and work and pray as though this were the last day that would be granted us. How intensely earnest, then, would be our life. How closely would we follow Jesus in all our words and deeds,” (Testimonies for the Church, vol. 5, p. 200).
What would I do differently if I knew this was the last time I would see someone? How would I live differently? How would you?
Ensure that each moment counts by living as if it’s your last. Make each act purposeful by letting the Lord shine through you!
