Troubleshooting

Our family was returning from some meetings in another province. The road we were on was being widened, and its pavement had been removed. On either side of the road were flooded rice fields.
Out in the middle of nowhere, as we crested a hill, I saw the check-engine light turn on for a few seconds and then turn off again. At the same time, our truck’s throttle suddenly became less responsive.
I was concerned. This is a relatively new truck. Why was it having engine problems? We stopped, and I took a quick look under the hood and around the truck. I got back into the truck, and we said a prayer. When I started the truck again, a blue cloud billowed up behind us. This was not a place we wanted to spend the night.
I checked again under the hood. This time I noticed that the battery was askew. The metal band that usually holds it down was missing. The battery had probably been rattling around for a long time. With all the bumping on the unfinished roads, it most likely had a momentary short, causing the check-engine light to turn on. I was so thankful that this was the only thing wrong. I was able to get it secured for the rest of the trip into Phnom Penh. We were so thankful that God allowed me to see the problem quickly before we had a larger problem. God knows our every need, even before we do!
