Waiting. It’s something many people have difficulty with, especially when the reason for waiting is unknown. But if we believe God is in control and is taking care of us, we can trust He will work things out in the right time.
When we finished training in August, several things stood in the way of our launching. One by one, however, these obstacles have fallen. First, our fundraising was completed. Then our work permit and visas came in. While waiting for our house to sell, we have been purchasing solar panels and high-efficiency appliances needed for life in the bush. But during this time of waiting, we have wondered why God has not miraculously brought us an offer for our house.
Then, on the morning of November 28, we received a phone call from my brother-in-law saying my older sister had been in a head-on collision with a garbage truck and was in critical condition. We packed and made the four-hour trip to see her not knowing if she would be alive when we arrived. We praise God that He performed a miracle and spared her life! She has many broken bones and has a long road to recovery, but we are thankful she is making good progress. I can now see it is a blessing our house did not sell so we could still be here to spend time with my sister and support the family.
We know God loves and cares for us and will work out the details even though we don’t know His timing. We’re learning valuable lessons in trust, patience, and waiting on the Lord. He has a reason for everything. These trials are preparing us for the work He has called us to with the Gogodala.
