What God Wants Most

What does God want most? Every religion in the world has a different answer to this question. For the Hindu, there are 330 million gods who want all sorts of things. Through chanting and rituals, Hindus hope to reach an enlightened state and live a “good” life, be reincarnated as something better in the next life. What “god” wants is kind of unclear here. For the Buddhist, a god may or may not exist, and instead the writings and life of the man, Buddha, are held in holy esteem. Here as well, people rely on works and rituals to build merit for a better reincarnation. Although Muslims’ beliefs about God are closer to ours, their system of salvation is based on fear and works at its core. Muslims see God as demanding righteousness, yet without the tender wooing of Christ, and without His free gift of salvation purchased with His blood.

God is clear in His Word that, “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear” (1 John 4:18). What an honor and privilege we have as Christians to know that what God wants the most, isn’t just our works, our habits or our action. If God wanted these things alone, He would have created us as infallible machines. The Bible says that we will seek God and find Him when we search for Him with all our hearts. What God wants most is our hearts!

As we prepare to bring this beautiful truth to our brothers and sisters among the Cham people of Cambodia, we are filled with excitement as we look into the future and picture people for the first time comprehending God’s love for them as seen in the gift of Jesus! Please keep us in prayer as we work together with God to build a support team for Cambodia.
