Why Are We here?

We are here to reach the unreached Thai Buddhist people of Isaan. AFM primarily focuses on reaching the unreached by helping people/people groups experience a worldview change. The way an individual or a group sees and understands the world around is their worldview. It’s also the lens through which they interpret their life experience.

Why is our primary focus on reaching children and youth?

As a person gets older, their worldview becomes more firmly cemented. It becomes harder to change. Our primary focus is on reaching children and youth because we want to start an inter-generational movement that starts with helping them build a biblical worldview that they will pass on to their children.

How do we help the children and youth build a biblical worldview?

The primary way we do this is by telling them Bible stories and helping them interpret and understand their life experience through the lens of those stories. This could also be defined as discipleship.

What does it look like when the children and youth are able to interpret and understand their life experience through the lens of the Bible?

With a biblical worldview, they no longer fear ghosts or spirits or use charms and magic to protect themselves from those forces. They feel safe knowing that Jesus is watching over them and guiding their lives. They pray to Jesus when they have problems in life and they regularly offer thanks to Him for His love and care in their everyday lives. They feel connected to Jesus and to a community of Christians who support them and for whom they offer spiritual, mental, and physical support in return. They contribute to the betterment of the community they live in and help others learn how to connect to Jesus and the Christian community as well.

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” (Mark 10:14 NIV)
