Window of Opportunity

Last month, we shared about Daniel Lewis, a Seventh-day Adventist who suffered imprisonment, torture, and death during the brutal anti-religious campaign during communist control in Albania. But before Daniel died, he and his wife, Flora, were able to touch lives with Christ’s love.

One life they touched was that of a young woman named Meropi who befriended the couple and studied the Bible with them before their captivity. Meropi never lost faith that God heard her prayers that she and her people would one day have the opportunity to be baptized and to worship Him openly without fear. She kept a Greek Bible hidden in a box and faithfully translated it into Albanian.

One day, nearly 50 years after communism had taken over her country, Albania was finally free! A foreign Seventh-day Adventist pastor heard about Meropi and went to visit her. She cried tears of joy when she met him. He was moved to tears next when she brought out the Bible and the translations and gave him her tithe, which she had put aside during all those years of extreme poverty! She was the first Albanian to be baptized a Seventh-day Adventist after communism ended.

You have a window of opportunity to be instruments for God to help answer Meropi’s prayer for her people. Will you go to Albania as a long-term missionary? If you are unable to do this, then will you let your light shine to Meropi’s people by becoming a monthly supporter? Will you pour out your heart in prayer for the unreached Albanians to have, at long last, the opportunity to know the Light of the world?
