Yod

Mom, those Christians at that church teach really well. I want to become a Christian!” Yod said after returning from his visit to our church.
Caught off guard and wanting to quench her son’s enthusiasm, his mother responded, “You can’t become a Christian because you are Buddhist!”
Yod studied ukulele at our music school for several months before he attended church for the first time. He quickly made friends with our pastor’s two sons and was captured by the sermon that Sabbath from an Adventist Thai youth leader. Although Yod’s parents were more than happy to allow him to learn music, they were very concerned when he expressed interest in becoming a Christian. For the next year, they became more protective of their son.

This past December, Yod and both of his parents came to our school’s Christmas program. Close to a hundred people attended the event. It was a fun evening with lots of food, games, good music and wholesome fellowship. At one point, our Thai pastor overheard Yod’s mother say to her husband, “These people seem happy, and they know how to have fun. Maybe we should think about becoming Christians.”

Yod continues to study at our school and recently has participated in other church functions. We don’t know where his journey or his parents’ journey will take them, but we are thankful to see how God is using our church community to reveal His love and joy to those around us.

Please pray for Yod and his parents, and pray that our church and school will truly reflect God’s character so that many others will be drawn to the Savior.
