About the People

The Gogodala people live deep in the sago swamps of the Western Province of Papua New Guinea. Approximately 25,000 men, women and children live in 30 villages stretched out on ridges of land that rise above large lagoons. They build their homes from split palm branches and cover them with thatched roofs made from sago palm leaves.

Missionaries have worked among the Gogodala for more than 60 years, trying to establish an indigenous church among the people. Yet, Gogodala men and women have shared that they never gave up their spirit traditions when they became “Christians.” Instead, they merged the two belief systems, often asking God to bless them before conducting their spirit ceremonies. Please pray that the Gogodala people will come to a true understanding of God’s love and care for them.

Frontier Stories

Kotale +4

Midori and I have been praying for a long time that the Lord would bring persons of influence into our churches, and we feel that God is beginning to answer this prayer.

Water of Life

More than a thirst for literal water, we desire the Gogodala people to thirst for the water of life that only Jesus can give.

Richard

I am amazed to see how God uses Richard and his family network to spread God’s word, and I am excited to see what will happen next.

Grace for Our Trials

Didn’t we just baptize that person, and now he is doing THIS?

Waisa

“Suddenly, our plant started producing pumpkins! Not just one or two. We were getting thirteen or fourteen per day, every day! We saw that God blesses us when we are faithful with our tithe.”

Weighing the Evidence.  Following the Call.

Every night, they were there, smiling, shaking their heads in agreement, and even throwing out a few loud “amens” along the way.

Worms!

In the absence of other medicines, God answered our prayers and provided the help we needed from our own cupboard.

Ivan’s Change of Heart

Praise God, for He touched Ivan’s heart through the self-sacrificing service of a few humble community service ladies who, following the example of Jesus, visited the sick and ministered to their needs.

Overcoming

Despite my handicap, the Overcomers’ Conference was a tremendous blessing, not just to those who attended but to Laurie and myself as well. We have been asked to do another similar conference as soon as possible. Thank you for your prayers.
