A Little Child Shall Lead Them

“For a moment, I thought it was Friday. I was looking forward to Sabbath for Bible study,” Sali texted.

Sali, one of our Sabbath Bible study friends, had missed our previous study because of a school function for her children. Now, confused about which day of the week it was, she had reached out to us. Seeing her eagerness, we invited her and her family to plan on coming to our home the following day.

As we settled at the dining table, their 3-year-old son, Miloni, went to the living room and began gathering Greenlandic, English and Danish Bibles from one of the chairs. One by one, he carried them to the table. We were in awe as he lifted two huge Greenlandic Bibles. “He sure has a plan to climb that chair,” his mother stated matter-of-factly as we eagerly anticipated his next move. But little Miloni did not need the chair, for he gently found his way to my lap and sat quietly.

Miloni’s cues were clear, and we picked up our Bibles to study.

Joe shared the story of Jesus asleep in the boat.
Miloni, although not understanding the significance of what we spoke, quietly left my lap and lay on the floor, a fitting object lesson at the very moment Joe shared about the peace in our Master’s heart amidst the storm.

What a joy it was to have this lovely family visit with us. We witnessed how the Holy Spirit can use a 3-year-old without an ounce of understanding of the context or the language to respond to the scenes in the Bible story and to lead adults to worship without speaking a single word. God is at work in ways beyond our imagination.

Little Miloni! What a blessing! May we, like little children, rest quietly in the Lord, remembering that He is our peace in the midst of turmoil and fear in this stormy world.

As we remain keen and open to His leading, responding in simple obedience to what He points to and reveals, we will surely experience His blessings, and souls will be won to His kingdom.
