“Please fasten your seatbelts and prepare for landing.”
At 8:30 p.m., March 23, 2025, Joe and I giggled in our seats like two little children on a safari who have asked over and over again, “Daddy, are we there yet?” Finally, the destination was in sight.
As the pilot’s voice echoed over the intercom, our eyes and phone cameras peeked through the window. The massive white blanket of snow stared back at us during our final descent. Our gratefulness exceeded the excitement of landing itself. Our flight was not one of the several that had to return to their origins due to strong winds. Daddy (God), Joe and I had finally arrived.
Three days after a wonderful complimentary hotel stay extended to us by a lovely couple, we were eager to get to our new home. On the path to our house, our feet, tucked inside heavy boots, sank knee-deep into the snow. (It is spring!) Trying to pull one foot out while dragging eight heavy suitcases behind was no small feat. As we rolled the suitcases, it ceased to matter which direction they fell or faced. What mattered was that we had arrived home after four years on this journey.
Plugging in the door codes, we finally entered. As we surveyed our new home, I made a discovery. “There is no running water,” I told Joe with dire urgency. We looked at each other in shock. How could this be? We called an electrician referred to us.
He arrived not only with his tools but also with a huge smile. “You have water. The pipes are just frozen,” he said calmly. What relief! He explained why we had “no water” and that he had the solution, then beckoned us to come to the heating panels.
“The fuse is overloaded. It keeps tripping. It is too small to bear the heating load for the incoming home-consumption pipe and the outgoing sewer-disposal pipe. The wires that go around the pipes cannot heat the pipes to melt the ice. I will be right back.” He has since added the right fuse capacity to keep our pipes warm. The water is flowing freely.
Being frozen and waterless in Greenland is not an option we want. Being frozen by sin is not an option in God’s heart for His children; that is why Jesus came. The flow of grace is available to anyone willing to have their heart infused by His Holy Spirit.
We are asking the Lord to daily fuse our hearts with the power of His Holy Spirit. We must be plugged into His divine power. He has explained the signs of the times and provided a solution: Himself—able to bear our every load. And soon, He will arrive with a huge smile on His face to take His willing children home. “I will be right back,” He has promised.
As we meet the people of Greenland, we are sharing the warmth of His love and the flowing of His grace from the Fountain of Living Water.
