Jogly Bocanegra

Short-term missionary for 2025, serving the Hill Tribes of Ratanakiri in Cambodia.

From a very young age, I knew my calling was ministry.

My father was a rural pastor in Colombia, and my siblings and I had the privilege of accompanying him on many of his visits to remote villages. I still remember traveling the Caquetá River by canoe, hearing locals speak of its dangers. But as a child, my heart was filled with warmth and wonder, knowing we were taking those risks for something far greater—for God.

Tragically, my father passed away when I was only five years old. In the face of that loss, my mother became our steady anchor. I’ll never forget her words: “I will raise four servants to restore the one who was laid to rest.” And that’s exactly what she did.

My siblings and I formed a music ministry, using our gifts to share God’s love with others. Over time, as I grew up and started a family of my own, I began to sense that the Lord was calling us into something more. The seed planted through our childhood ministry began to grow into a broader evangelistic mission. We saw it as a continuation of the beautiful work God had started through our mother’s faith and resilience.

In recent years, I felt God stirring my heart once again—this time to return to school. I wanted to sharpen my skills and grow deeper in the calling He had placed on my life. After graduating from college this past December, I knew the time had come to fully embrace the path God laid out for me from the very beginning.

I won’t pretend it’s easy. Moving to a new country, learning a new language, and adjusting to a new culture is a daunting task, especially at this stage in life. But I believe with all my heart that God can use anyone—a willing, fully surrendered heart—to do great things for His kingdom.

This is the beginning of a new chapter in my journey, and I’m excited to see where God leads next.
