Dailyn Patino

Served the Pnong people of Cambodia as a Student Missionary from 2023–2024.

My parents were missionaries in Central America for most of my childhood, so from an early age I loved serving the Lord. Since then, I knew that I wanted to go into the mission field when I grew up, no matter what my career ended up being. In recent years the Lord has led me to study Music Education and English, and a few months back I was impressed to apply for this project. Through the entire application process, God has made it clear to me that He wants me to serve here. So I know He will provide for the rest. I am super excited to go to Cambodia and share the love of God with the children and people there!

The Call

When I entered the church for Friday night vespers, I was intrigued by the theme of the service. It was mission emphasis night! “Huh! That’s kind of neat,” I thought with a smile to myself. When the service began, they introduced the mission panel for the night. But when the last panelist was introduced, my mouth dropped. It was the same person I had been emailing all week! Could this all really be a coincidence?

Here I am Lord!

Psalms 8:3-4 states, “When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?” This has been the question on my mind since I felt the Lord’s call to Cambodia. Why would He choose me to go? I have often repeated the words of Jeremiah when he was first called. “Lord, I’m only a youth!” I don’t have much experience! I don’t know if I have enough to offer! Yet I find comfort in the knowledge that God doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called.
