From Mali to Benin

“God writes straight with curved lines; He leads us where He wants on twisting paths.” These words of the French Christian singer, Noel Colombier, touched me in my teenage years and helped me better understand Romans 8:28: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

We would like to inform all our donors, prayer partners, and friends of a change in our missionary project. After a year and half of gathering materials, reading and praying for the Hasanya people of Mali, we’ve come to understand that we needed to shift our focus to a different people group and country—the Dendi of Benin. At first, this was not good news for us. It was a drastic change. But then we remembered Romans 8:28.

God prepared us for this transition. Providentially, I traveled through the north of Benin in early February on my way back to Burkina Faso from a meeting in Lomé, Togo. This route was 10 hours longer than our outbound trip, but our decision makes more sense to me now as I understand that God wanted to show me the people and the land He was calling us to. This was confirmed in dreams he gave both to Elmire and to me. We hope to share details of our dreams in our next articles.

We have no doubt that God is in control of our project’s new direction. As we surrender ourselves to Him, we invite you to join us and be part of His great plan to save the lost. Thanks for your prayers and support!
