Hi there! My name is Daniyél, and I’m just a few months old—brand new to the world and already on quite the international adventure. I was made in South Africa, born in America, and I am getting ready to grow up in Czechia.
So far, I have spent most of my short life in a classroom. Okay, technically, I have spent most of it napping in a classroom. My parents are soaking up missionary training while I work on my sleeping-through-lectures skills (which, let’s be honest, I have totally mastered). I trust that Mom and Dad are taking good notes because one day, they will need to teach me and my brothers how to share God’s love, too.
Speaking of my brothers—what a pair! The oldest one is quiet and thoughtful, preferring solo adventures that involve Legos and deep thinking. The youngest, on the other hand . . . let’s just say, if lungs were a spiritual gift, then he received a double portion. I suspect we have found the future worship leader of the family.
Apparently, my brothers and I are what people call third culture kids. Not fully American, not entirely South African, and definitely not 100 percent Czech—but a mash-up of all three, like a cultural smoothie. Language learning remains a mystery to all of us, but I hope to become proficient one day.
Everyone around here keeps talking about “making disciples” and “planting churches.” I used to think “be fruitful and multiply” just meant having babies, but I am beginning to understand it also means helping others to follow Jesus. God must have something amazing planned for the people in Czechia if He’s sending a little crew like us there.
So, from my crib-side perspective, this summer has been all about learning, growing and following wherever God leads. We are all called to serve—some of us just do it while wearing diapers and drinking warm milk. God has called my family to live and serve in Czechia, but we cannot serve alone, at least not well. Will you prayerfully join us as a monthly partner and help us serve the people of Czechia?
