“Brick upon brick with mortar between.” These are the words of a popular children’s book describing the woman of Shunam building a room on her house for the prophet Elisha.
This is also the way that many churches, pagodas and mosques are being rebuilt after their destruction during the Pol Pot regime. There is currently an open door of opportunity while the people of this country are searching for their place in the civil, political and spiritual worlds. As time progresses, people are becoming more and more cemented in their spirituality.
We must take full advantage of this opportunity to share the love of Jesus found in the Gospel. Each and every one of these beautiful children of God needs to know that the Living God of Heaven loves them so much that He gave His only Son Jesus to die for them so that they can have eternal life. They must know that it is only through the sinless merit of Jesus Christ that they can be saved. Their merit, like our own, is inadequate and like filthy rags. It is only through Christ’s power and love that they can live righteous lives and do good to those around them.
Please join us as we take this opportunity to step through this open door during this “time of Elisha,” a time of relative peace and safety, and grasp the hands of these people as we race together towards Jesus, the author and finisher of the work.
This door may not be open long. Please join us with your prayers, support and able bodies to reach the Great River People.
