Whiter than Snow

As small, delicate snowflakes fall slowly past my window, I think about King David’s prayer in Psalm 51 where he asks God to make him whiter than snow. As the snowflakes gently cover everything outdoors, leaving the landscape clean and perfect, I ask God to clean my life, to make me a pure vessel for Him.

Then I begin thinking about the next years of my life. The purifying that God is doing will stay with me long after the snow melts outdoors. But what will I tell my Ama friends when it comes time to translate the Psalms for people who have never seen snow? What analogy will I use?

As I finish my devotions, God gently reminds me that, at the right time, He will show the Ama what it means to be covered by His righteousness. I rest in the assurance that at the right time He will show me how to relate and share the meaning of this precious Psalm.
May your heart be cleansed with God’s perfect love.
